A day in the studio -- balmy, warm ... perfect for working. i had time to reconsider some older pieces-- before moving on to some new work for the weekend.

The third painting is my favorite, Carol. There is something about the position of the bodies and the subdued colors you chose that really give this one a melancholy feeling - those blue faces are wonderful! I like it like it like it! The first one makes me want to say, "Well, hi, Carol!" Do you have hundreds of photos of you that you use as models for paintings? And how did you get past the anxiety of painting yourself? You know, that feeling of: Do I really look like that?

hi rhonda, i still have 'mixed feelings' about all 3 of these painting... but have sworn to set them aside for now. i need to 'move on' and start new, fresher work.
thank you for your compliment though.
as far as subject photography?
yes, i have hundreds of photos that i work from. it varies from model to model.. and shoot to shoot.. and also... it varies from what message i'm trying to convey -- as to who i paint.

i have no trouble painting 'me'... i've been an autobiographic painter for decades. i think self-portraiture is a great form of expression -- you almost have more freedom and liberty to say what you want! no restrictions.

i never care if it 'looks like me or not!'

why don't you try a self-portait ?? share it with me.

happy painting.
