GOLD BAGS ASIAN INFLUENCE

Two watercolors I have been working on this week from the TUNG CHOI STEET in HONG KONG.

The gold fish in the bags was completely enchanting to me!  I just had to paint them!

I am planning on doing a series.

The more abstracted they are-- the better I like them.

Stay tuned for more.

These are really stunning: your fascination with the subject is evident.
I love the range of blue-grays, and the way the orange pops!
May I ask: do you use hot press paper? There's a quality to your surfaces--I'm not sure what to call it; an almost enamel brightness.

Thank you sarabel!

Laura, thank you so much for liking my work. I am really excited about this series. I think it's abstract, compelling, and strange-- all at once. It takes a bit of observation before you are able to see what it is. The paper I am using is ARCHES 300 lb cold press. I don't care for hot press-- too slick.

Beautiful! I lived in Hong Kong for a year and a half and absolutely loved it! Glad you are having a great time. It's hard to explain to others what an intriguing wonderful place it is! It still influences my work.
