PREHISTORIC to SPACE AGE

Here are the places I went to in Titusville FLORIDA ---

Dixie Crossroads Seafood Restaurant-- yum and double yum for rock shrimp...

Also the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge-- especially the Bio Lab Road. this was an awesome drive-- where we saw the most incredible vistas and views of pristine, undeveloped, natural FLORIDA! Saw grass, brackish water, prehistoric animals -- beaches, dunes, pelicans, turns, cormorants.. and much more.

By the refuge is NASA's Cape Kennedy where i saw the VAB [Vertical Assembly Building] -[ see photo]. this is where they mate the external tank rockets and the solid rocket boosters with the space shuttle. kool.huh?

the shuttle that will go on FEB 19th.. from Launch Pad A. i am hoping to come back to see it. [never have--]

We also drove out to Canaveral National Seashore and had lunch at Eddy Creek with the pelicans... we saw bitterns, Roseate Spoonbills, and Florida Scrub Jays, armadillos, and gators!!! [see photo again... prehistoric to SPACE AGE! all in ONE photo!]

what a wonderful day with my new friend and art spirit-- Dawna.

special day in every aspect.

Titusville, FLORIDA

first stop-- TITUSVILLE FLORIDA. i met some new friends through the web-- Dawna and Ron .... who are the most fabulous people! we ate at this awesome restaurant -- DIXIE CROSSROADS last night. the food there.. rock shrimp was amazing!

i feel so privileged and blessed to have run into them.

today.. i teach Dawna a little about my acrylic technique.
then, this afternoon -- we are going to see the Merritt Island Nature Preserve for photography.
The Cape Kennedy Launch Site is also located nearby... and I'm hoping to see a wee bit of that too. I may come back for the shuttle launch next week... as they are discontinuing the program! yikes.. have never seen a rocket take off before.

This evening.. Ron is taking me on his Ultra-lite.... Whoa.... can't wait!

so... wonderful day ahead!

Still Waters -- watercolor

This painting is really gathering it's own energy and presence. I am almost done with it ... and what started out as TWO watercolors... spontaneously became infinitely better by becoming a DIPTYCH. i was working on both pieces simultaneously -- and had them next to each other on my work easel. suddenly -- the differing perspectives of virtually the same pond... became eerily suggestive.. and captivating. i LIKED it better together.. than separately. that's how they hang.

now.. i have to finish the top leaf -- minor adjustments.. and viola! it's done.

when you stand in front of it.. the size, the perspective, and the way that it's arranged on the wall-- makes you feel dizzy! very cool....

Acrylic- Pondscape

I have been working on this painting for the last few weeks... hoping to have it done before going to FL... and seeing the REAL EVERGLADES! but, alas.. I couldn't draw it to conclusion. I do like parts of it.. and I will finish it later. It's a nice composition ... and soon.. it will take on a life of it's own.
