Italy... again and again

I am making progress on the last two of the last 3 paintings I need to finish for the show.

It's been almost a year-- since I began this project... and I am needing to wrap it up!

The last 3 paintings are mid-size panels. They will probably have greater impact.. therefore... need to be well painted and resolved.

It's a high bar-- that I've set!

Italy-- First of the Last 3

Today was the day I put the sky in the last large painting for the Italian Series.

I felt it went okay -- but now ...I have to pull together the village and the foreground. I am heavily influenced by the other paintings gone before. Not a good thing... because I don't want it to feel derivative.

So... I hope by the time it's finished-- it will be a nice companion piece for the hilltop painting to the left.

Ah... I miss Italy.

Marching On

I have started the last 3 paintings for my show. They are all large panels. The top image is the beginning of a 30 x 30.

It's a village outside of Lucca.

The show is nearing completion. I am anxious to get it finished-- as I need to put my attention towards a commission.

Tomorrow I teach again-- and the semester is winding down. The students remain focused -- but I am feeling like I need to do another demo or two.

Italy REDO

I looked at my total show from Italy yesterday... to see what I had done.

I liked all the paintings...except one. Pretty good... because I've done 70 paintings.

Yes, 70.

Anyway, this painting here... I reworked today.

It has changed a lot from the original version. There is still work to be done ... but I am encouraged that I have moved it in a different direction.

There are only 3 more paintings to be finished. The, I'm done.

Can't wait.
