Marvelous article on the workshop I am offering at Crystal Mountain Resort in Thompsonville, MI.

The workshop is a 5 day one-- with 2 free days for relaxation and a tour.

Because the workshop is at a  "resort" -- there will be plenty of diversion.  Tennis, pool, jacuzzi, golf, exercise, massage, etc.

I am thrilled to be going!

The group will have all meals together--- festive and gourmet!

GOLD BAGS ASIAN INFLUENCE

Two watercolors I have been working on this week from the TUNG CHOI STEET in HONG KONG.

The gold fish in the bags was completely enchanting to me!  I just had to paint them!

I am planning on doing a series.

The more abstracted they are-- the better I like them.

Stay tuned for more.

Greater Cincinnati Watercolor Society!

Last week-- I drove to Ohio/Kentucky to give a talk on my work to the Great Cincinnati Watercolor Society.  Wow.. what a GREAT group!

We had about 40 artists in attendance.  I shared my paintings-- all watercolor.  I conveyed a timeline of the development of my work.  I also shared how I come up with themes, subjects, content with my imagery.

I wanted to convey how I arrive at my point-of-view within the narrative of my portfolio.

It was a wonderful lecture-- with many fine questions, photos, and good cheer!

It was so successful-- they invited me back to do it again in Feburary 2014!

Rhonda Carpenter-- my artist friend in Cincinnati made the arrangements for the talk.  She is a great artist/teacher-- and so gifted in the studio.

She has shared in her blog -- an nice accounting of the talk.

I am deeply grateful for her invitation to come.  I feel honored and priveleged to be included!

Thank you dear Rhonda [and Jerry] for hosting me!

HOPPER TRIPTYCH- watercolor

A new triptych for the small INTRUDERS show.  It didn't make it to framing stage-- but I will include this beautiful triptych anyway.

The monarch was particularly fun to paint.  I believe it shows a freedom and splash that could only be achieved after painting 200 other bugs!

There's no way I would have painted this as simply and directly as it is-- without all that other foundational understanding of all the other bugs.

Viva la insects!

I am finally rounding down my series on bugs.  There's only a few more to do for Crate & Barrel-- then I stop.

It's been a good run.. and I've had a super time with all that it's lead me to do.

I have loved making the book, the note cards, the lapel pin, the mini-moo cards, the poster, and working with PaperPaintPress on the wallpaper, and with Anne Taussig on the TEES.

What a super opening we will have next Friday!

Please come if you can-- and celebrate the small INTRUDERS!

BURST! new IRIS watercolor floral

I just had to do another IRIS for Spring! The large scale watercolor relies heavily on complimentary colors for punch.

It was a joy to paint-- and fun to pull together.

It is monumental in scale and really lives up to it's title!

Happy Spring everyone-- on this first day of SPRING!

WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP-- St Louis STYLE!

I haven't posted much on the blog this week-- because I was super-busy with a workshop last weekend at MARYVILLE UNIVERSITY.

It was a glorious weekend of painting with some new friends and old!

The workshop was FULL to capacity -- with over 22 students--- painting and splashing... and producing great work.

LOVE it ALL!

In fact... I LOVE TEACHING!!

There will be another workshop soon... the next one is in DOOR COUNTY WISCONSIN.

Come and join!

Thank you to everyone who came to learn my technique of painting.  There were students from California and South Carolina.

I enjoyed every minute.

Happy painting everyone!

Happy Clients!

Two happy clients this week ---  lovely lovely to share the paintings with them for collection.

I am always pleased and overjoyed when people purchase my work.  It's an honor and privilege to be a working artist.  I treasure and value each day in the studio.

Thank you thank you to these clients for reaffirming my time there!

Happy day!
